A deafening silence. And then it began Incessant ticking of the clock An unceasing motion Pain shooting up her head Like a bloodrush Or needles pricking the smooth skin. Then came the thunder, The sound vibrating through her body Rattling the bones Aching the muscles Then came the screams, Her pleads, Her cries, Begging to be released From the shackles of the man The man who was to love her Was he the actual beast? No, he was to be worshiped. But then why did he trap her in the glass jar? Beast had learnt to love, He learned to care. He learned to protect. She couldn’t recognize the person before her, He was supposed to be her prince. She was the beauty, The trophy wife that flashes everyone a sweet smile, She was taught to sew and cook Not wield a sword. Yet that didn’t stop her. She had been betrayed by the prince, She had been manipulated into doing his bidding She had been mocked and laughed at, Never again. The delicate hands were now littered with scars Her eyes ever so warm became emotionless The shield built up again Yet he managed to break them down The so-called beast proclaimed by the devil? Became her salvation Her one true love Her mate.
Note: This is based on the series, ” A Court of Thorns and Roses” by Sarah J Maas. It is a retelling of ” Beauty and the Beast”. It is a representation of what Feyre(the protagonist) went through.
